In pioneer times, students used slate boards—which resembled mini handheld blackboards—to record answers, do calculations, practice spelling, etc. Today’s digital slates are similar in some ways to their ancestors. Slates enable students to write on the digital whiteboard without walking to the front of the classroom. Digital slates get everyone involved, enhance lessons, and reduce downtime. They are especially helpful for students with mobility challenges.

Here are links to the Airliner by SMART and the ActivSlate by Promethean. They both work seamlessly with their respective digital whiteboard.
