Spelling

Students will receive homework every night but Fridays Students will usually have homework every night except for Fridays so that they can enjoy the weekend with their families.  Students that work well during class time usually have less homework at night.

Weekly Spelling                                                                    Spelling assignments will be given at the beginning of every week.  Students should complete their spelling neatly in their spelling books and study their spelling words nightly.  Spelling should be handed in on Friday before the spelling test.

Monthly Social Studies                                                        Each month students will receive a current events newsletter with activities.  We will read some of the articles in class and others students should read on their own.  All questions, activities and maps should be done neatly and handed in on the last day of the month (Fines will be given for lost newsletters).

Nightly Math                                                                         Each night students will have a Math page from their workbooks.  Students should listen during the lesson and work hard on their in class activities and question in order to better complete the homework.  Each page has At Home Tips that are helpful when completing the work.  The Math will be checked and taken up the next morning.

Daily homework is due the day after it is assigned        (unless otherwise specified).  Homework can be turned in one day late for a reduced grade.  After that it will not be accepted.  Of course, students absent due to illness will be given the necessary time to make up missed assignments.  Students that do not hand in homework will be required to attend homework club and will be fined.

All work must also contain the proper class heading             in the upper right-hand corner of the paper.  This heading consists of the student's name and the date.

In previous grade levels, students may have been required to write down their homework in an agenda and have parents sign it every night. We will begin the year this way but as students demonstrate that they are responsible I inform them that they no longer require parent and teacher signatures each night.
